No news is good news, right? Well, I haven’t much to report. I am still looking for a job in Utah and still plugging away at my job here. Frankly, after about 8 months, its getting old. SO – I do have my daughter for the next week or so. For those of you just tuning in, we are NOT separated or divorced, We just had a very, extremely premature baby whilst on vacation in Utah, so the baby had to stay in Utah while I continued my job in Colorado. Thanks –

Having Emery here was a lot of fun this week. She is working on being potty trained and that is a chore. She knows how to use the potty, she will even do it when she wants to, but the problem is it is not advantageous for her to comply, I guess. The little stinker will even hold it until AFTER we have tried the potty just to make us mad. While I am at work, she stays with my mother, and that has been good. I think my mother is getting further than I ever could. I hope she gets the hang of it soon, because changing poopie diapers on a 3 year old is not what I consider fun.

On the computer front, I have installed Fedora Core 4 on my server, but the FC4 kernel is not compatible with VMWare. I tried installing VMWare, and during the installation it needs to compile some kernel modules to pass on instructions from the client operating systems to the processor through the Linux kernel. Well, while compiling using the FC4 kernel source libraries, the whole process crapped out and we got an entire stack trace and register dump. Crapped out man. So, VMWare doesn’t install on FC4 very well. Back to FC3. I have had very good success with Fedora Core 3, much more than any version of Fedora, so I think its ok to stay with FC3 until FC5 comes out or something else comes along. I would really REALLY like to get my hands on a copy of SuSE 9.x (any version) but SuSE makes you purchase the media. The older generations are available for download, but the latest version (9.x in this case) is only available from Novell as a purchase. Sux man.

SO, on goes my life as a computer junky. I found the Reviews section of Xanga, so, I think I’ll be giving reviews of my findings as I try out new software, hardware and other things. Check back soon, when I’ll be giving my review of Fedora Cores 3 and 4 as well as my review and config notes for VMWare and some fun Shareware/freeware software for Windows. This should be fun 🙂
