FSF Rating:

Have you ever needed to send a document to someone? what if that person didn't have the Microsoft Word on their computer? You could send them a PDF of the document, but how do you create a PDF of a Word document without purchasing the full version of Adobe Acrobat?

What is it

PDF 995 is a tiny piece of software (2 parts actually) that, when installed, create a virtual printer for you.  From any application, you can choose Print from the menu and choose PDF995 as the printer and it'll spit out a PDF document of whatever you have onscreen.  Pretty dang cool if you ask me.

What it does well

I love how this software works.  It takes anything and prints it off pretty perfectly to a PDF.  To install the software, go to the link above and click the download button.  Download and install both files in the first section and you're done.

What it doesn't do well

There really aren't any features to the software other than print.  What it does, it does well, but it'd be cool if it could recognize Word forms or Excel spreadsheets and create editable PDF Forms, but it's free, so I can't complain too much.

Final Thoughts and Rating

Sorry this weeks review is really short, but it's an essential piece of software that I use and think you should too.  I give PDF995 four out of five stars.  If it could make editable PDF Forms, it'd get a full 5 stars.  Cheers!
